On Nov. 20, 2014, Senior Master Sgt. Darren Green, 31st Munition Squadron superintendent, was selected for promotion to chief master sergeant, but the road to the top wasn’t easy and even included a brush with death. Green was diagnosed with stage-three melanoma in 2009 and relied on his wife, Master Sgt. Jenny Green, 31st Fighter Wing legal office superintendent, for support during his treatment.
