Officers from Tanzania, Comoros and the U.S. Navy interact during a reception aboard USS Simpson (FFG 56) Feb. 3, 2015. Simpson, an Oliver Hazard Perry-class guided-missile frigate, was in port after completing the underway phase of Exercise Cutlass Express 2015. The exercise, sponsored by U.S. Africa Command, is designed to improve regional cooperation, maritime domain awareness and information sharing practices to increase capabilities of East African and Indian Ocean nations to counter sea-based illicit activity.
