Col. Chris Pappas III, center, presents Lance Cpl. Jerell W. Pittman with an Outstanding Leadership and Volunteer Service Award for participating in Marine Air Support Squadron 1’s 25-mile Toys for Tots hike at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, N.C., Jan. 23, 2015. MASS-1 coordinated the hike and collected 813 toys for donation to more than 300 local families. Pappas is the commanding officer of Cherry Point and Pittman is an air support operator with MASS-1.
