The world audience has seen similar images numerous times during the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, but this one is from the safety of a remote training area in the country of Georgia where soldiers prepare for another deployment in support of the global war on terror. The Georgia Deployment Program took shape in late 2009 as the United States Army, Air Force, Navy and Marines teamed up to better prepare Georgian troops prior to deploying into Afghanistan. Today the Marines take a step back from the training and serve as more of a supervisory role as the Georgians plan, conduct and critique the combat training evolutions. This is a natural progression as the Georgian military becomes more conditioned and battle tested through deployments into the Middle East.
