Lance Cpl. Chris P. Stabler and other Marines with India Company, 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment cross a bridge during a security patrol in Haqlaniyah, Iraq, Nov. 27, 2005. Stabler, from Woodland, Calif., and the rest of the company, performed daily patrols in the city with Iraqi Army soldiers keep the insurgency out of the quiet city. The Camp Pendleton, Calif.-based battalion has spent the past six months conducting counter-insurgency operations and provides stability to the 'Triad' area of Haqlaniyah, Barwanah and Haditha.
