Staff Sgt. Webb, 433 Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, Lackland Air Force Base, Texas, prepares to go into the small space behind the latrines in a C-5 Galaxy troop compartment. The problem delayed the departure of the aircraft and could even cancel the flight because of added time it would add to the aircrew duty day, a crew fatigue and safety concern. His efforts eventually did allow the aircraft to depart within the safety window and to Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii. These latrines have additives in the system that render the contents safe and smell free.
