A look back at an interior entrance of Fort de Mutzig reveals a network of ventilation shafts that worked to ensure a supply of fresh oxygen with the fort's subterranean walls. Of the few items that had to be replaced within the fort's original infrastructure, the ventilation system was one of the few things that did not stand the test of time.
