Generaloberstabsarzt Dr. med. Ingo Patschke (the German army surgeon general) visiting the "Viper Pit" medical training facility at Baumholder, Germany on Dec. 9, 2014. The "Viper Pit," run by 421st Medical Battalion (Multifunctional), facilitates multiple medical training courses with a primary focus of preparing Soldiers to preserve life of traumatic injuries sustained during Unified Land Operations .
