Electrician's Mate Fireman Matthew Benton, from Oswego, N.Y., who is temporarily assigned duty (TAD) to the waste management division aboard amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8), empties a trash bag full of plastic containers into the ship's solid waste shredder machine in preparation to process the ship's plastic waste.
