U.S. Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Angela Ingalls, hospital corpsman, emergency medical facility X-ray technician, right, along with the help of U.S. Army Maj. Mickey G. Moppin, doctor of veterinary medicine, position "Don," a military working dog, April 24, while taking X-rays to uncover the cause of his upper respiratory problem. Don and his handler are assigned to the Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa MWD unit, Camp Lemonier, Djibouti, and are used for explosive, narcotic detection as well as security patrols. The service members of CJTF-HOA, headquartered in Djibouti, employ an indirect approach to counter violent extremism. Through a strategy of cooperative conflict prevention, the task force helps build the internal capacities of countries at risk in order to prevail against extremists exploiting instability.
