Royal Brunei Land Force Maj. Suwardi Ariffin, left, presents U.S. Marine Capt. Daniel J. Wendolowski with a plaque Nov. 14 during the conclusion of exercise Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training 2014 at Penanjong Garrison. Service members from the RBLF and U.S. Marines concluded the long week of training with a social gathering including a cake-cutting ceremony in celebration of the U.S. Marine Corps’ 239th birthday. The maritime exercise promoted regional security cooperation, mutual understanding and enhanced interoperability among participating forces. Ariffin is with 1st Battalion, RBLF. Wendolowski, from Cleveland, Ohio, is the commanding officer for Company E, 2nd Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, currently assigned to 4th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force, under the unit deployment program.
