Royal Brunei Land Force service members and U.S. Marines converse Nov. 14 during the conclusion of exercise Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training 2014 at Penanjong Garrison. Throughout the exercise, members of the RBLF and U.S. Marines trained in military operations on urbanized terrain and learned about jungle warfare operations. They concluded the week of training with a cake-cutting ceremony in celebration of the U.S. Marine Corps’ 239th birthday. The CARAT maritime exercise series promoted regional security cooperation, mutual understanding, and enhanced interoperability among participating forces. The RBLF service members are with 1st Battalion, RBLF. The U.S. Marines are with 2nd Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, currently assigned to 4th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force, under the unit deployment program.
