The airport was overwhelmingly damaged during Typhoon Yolanda on Nov. 8, 2013, but quickly re-opened three days after the storm through the relief efforts of Operation Damayan. Runyon led a COMCAM team to the city for the production of a one year anniversary remembrance video highlighting the efforts of Operation Damayan following typhoon Yolanda, and the enduring partnership between the United States and the Republic of Philippines.
