Lt. Caroline Messmer helps a Filipino girl get a treat from the vending machine aboard Military Sealift Command hospital ship USNS Mercy (T-AH 19). The child is one on many Filipino citizens who will receive life-changing surgery during Pacific Partnership 2012. The Philippines is the second stop for Pacific Partnership 2012. Previously the mission visited Indonesia and will move on to visit Vietnam and Cambodia.Pacific Partnership is an annual U.S. Pacific Fleet humanitarian and civic assistance mission now in its seventh year that brings together U.S. military personnel, host and partner nations, non-government organizations and international agencies to build stronger relationships and develop disaster response capabilities throughout the Asia-Pacific region.
