Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) pilot Lt. j.g. Sayuri Haraguchi takes off in a SH-60K Seahawk helicopter from the flight deck of the amphibious assault ship USS Boxer (LHD 4). Haraguchi made history when she became the first female pilot from the JMSDF to land on and take off from a U.S. Navy ship. Boxer is underway participating in Dawn Blitz, a scenario-driven exercise led by the U.S. 3rd Fleet and 1st Marine Expeditionary Force (1st MEF) that tests participants in the planning and execution of amphibious operations through a series of live training events.
