Sgt. Maj. William E. Thom II, a sergeant major with U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Special Operations Command, salutes during his retirement ceremony on April 17, at Courthouse Bay. Thom, a Texas native, retired after more than 30 years of honorable service in the Marine Corps. During the ceremony he was awarded a Legion of Merit medal.
