C Company, 2nd Battalion, 149th General Support Aviation Battalion, held a ceremony to name their Medical Evacuation Compound after fallen Spc. Heath Pickard, C Co., 1st Battalion, 5th Infantry Regiment automatic rifleman, who died serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom. The Pickard MEDEVAC Compound naming ceremony was held on Joint Base Balad, Iraq on April 20. Maj. Carlos Tamez, commander, C Co., 2-149 GSAB reaffirmed the MEDEVAC commitment to the rescue of wounded Soldiers.
