C Company, 2nd Battalion, 149th General Support Aviation Bn., held a ceremony to name their Medical Evacuation Compound after fallen Spc. Heath Pickard, C Co., 1st Battalion, 5th Infantry Regiment automatic rifleman, who died serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom. The Pickard MEDEVAC Compound naming ceremony was held on Joint Base Balad, Iraq on April 20. Dignitaries present included Brig. Gen. Brian Bishop, Joint Base Balad commander, Col. Clay Brock, Task Force 34 commander, Lt. Col. Joanne MacGregor, 2-149 General Support Aviation Battalion commander and Lt. Col. Shawn Reed, 1-5 Inf. Regt. commander.
