The heat signature of a M1A2 Abrams Tank main gun round obscures another Abrams during a live-fire training exercise at Adazi Training Area, Latvia Nov. 21, 2014. The exercise consisted of Latvian troops assaulting a village to perform a hostage rescue while U.S. mechanized infantry and armor from Company C, 2nd Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, provided site security. These activities are part of the U.S. Army Europe-led Operation Atlantic Resolve land force assurance training exercise taking place across Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland to enhance multinational interoperability, strengthen relationships among allied militaries, contribute to regional stability and demonstrate U.S. commitment to NATO.
