Armed forces of the Philippines Chief Petty Officer Jesus D. De Guia, a hospital corpsman, right, and Navy Seaman Jin Lin, a hospitalman assigned to the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, extract a tooth during a medical civic action program as part of Exercise Balikatan 2009. During Balikatan, Filipino and U.S. teams work shoulder to shoulder providing medical, dental, veterinary, and engineering services. These events allow U.S. and Philippine militaries to learn from one another as well as help the local communities.
