Capt. Gerald Stoermer, commanding officer, Company A, 2nd Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, looks on during a Latvian training exercise at Adazi Traning Area, Latvia, Nov. 20, 2014. The exercise consisted of an assault on the village and a search and rescue operation for a hostage inside the village. U.S. soldiers from 2nd Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, provided technical guidance during the planning and practice phases of the training operation. These activities are part of the U.S. Army Europe-led Operation Atlantic Resolve land force assurance training exercise taking place across Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland to enhance multinational interoperability, strengthen relationships among allied militaries, contribute to regional stability and demonstrate U.S. commitment to NATO.
