Under Secretary of the Army Brad R. Carson, along with Maj. Gen. Michael H. Shields, commanding general, U.S. Army Alaska, view an akhio sled demonstration Nov. 18, 2014. The akhio sled is used by USARAK Soldiers throughout Alaska for Arctic mobility and survivability. NWTC is Located at the Black Rapids Training Site, 130 miles south of Fort Wainwright, and is the Army's premier training center for cold weather and high altitude operations.
