Col. Ryan Gonsalves, the commander of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, presented Spc. Robert Williams, a water purification specialist with 3rdBattalion, 82nd Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd BCT, 1st Cav. Div., a Purple Heart, April 10, at the Emergency Medical Station on Forward Operating Base Warrior, Kirkuk, Iraq.Williams received shrapnel injuries during an attack from an RKG-3, a type of hand-held anti-tank grenade, the previous day while conducting an operation in Kirkuk city.
