Norwegian army Sapper Sgt. Raymond Edvardsen checks his watch as U.S. soldiers from Company A, 91st Engineer Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division arrive and maneuver a backhoe-loader into position to dig tank fighting positions during a combined U.S.-Norwegian live-fire training exercise at the Adazi Training Area, Latvia Nov. 13, 2014. The live fire exercise featured U.S. tanks and infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs) operating alongside Norwegian IFVs in order to practice combined operations as part of the U.S. Army Europe-led Operation Atlantic Resolve land force assurance training exercise taking place across Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland to enhance multinational interoperability, strengthen relationships among allied militaries, contribute to regional stability and demonstrate U.S. commitment to NATO.
