Marines and sailors with II Marine Expeditionary Force execute a 12-mile hike aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, N.C., Nov. 14, 2014. Major Gen. William D. Beydler, the commanding general of II MEF, has conducted hikes regularly to increase force morale and maintain unit readiness. After the hike was completed, the Marines took part in time-honored traditions, such as the cutting and passing of the birthday cake from the oldest Marine to the youngest Marine present for the Marine Corps’ 239th Birthday.
