Maintainers from Misawa Air Base, Japan, safe an F-16 Fighting Falcon upon its return to Komatsu Air Base, Japan, Nov. 12, 2014, while a pilot prepares to disembark. The F-16 and pilot are assigned to the 14th Fighter Squadron, which is currently at Komatsu in support of Aviation Training Relocation program operations. More than 120 Airmen from Misawa are on hand at Komatsu to practice and evaluate the coordination procedures and interoperability elements with the Japan Air Self Defense Force. Although the 14th FS is flying in an alternate training location, their suppression of enemy air defenses and defensive/offensive counterair mission remains the same.
