First Lt. Christopher Mallen gives a presentation on the U.S. Army and its role in NATO as part of an outreach event at Garkalnes School, Latvia, Nov. 11, 2014. Mallen spoke to students, along with a representative of the Norwegian army, in an effort to educate the children about their home countries and their role in the alliance. These activities are part of the U.S. Army Europe-led Operation Atlantic Resolve land force assurance training exercise taking place across Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland to enhance multinational interoperability, strengthen relationships among allied militaries, contribute to regional stability and demonstrate U.S. commitment to NATO.
