Maj. Jason R. Shockey displays his Copernicus Award following an awards ceremony Oct. 31 on Camp Courtney. Shockey was presented the prestigious award for creating a more combat ready regiment by improving information technology systems and creating an effective business impact analysis system within the 12th Marine Regiment. Recipients of the award are selected based on their high performance and innovation in their job field. The award is highly competitive and draws potential winners from the Marine Corps, Navy and Coast Guard. “My Marine Corps training is what gave me the skills I needed to succeed and be recognized here today,” said Shockey, from Petaluma, California, an operations officer with 12th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force.
