Maj. Gen. Gary Volesky, commander of the Joint Forces Command – United Assistance, surveys the sprawling vegetation of Liberia Nov. 3, 2014, while on his way to Ganta, Liberia, to discuss the site of a future Ebola treatment unit. Volesky traveled with representatives from the Armed Forces of Liberia and the U.S. Agency for International Development, which is the lead agency in the U.S. government and international effort to contain Ebola in West Africa. The meeting was a success, and construction is scheduled to begin as early as this week.
