Marines provide security and prepare to advance during a simulated amphibious assault Nov. 1 on Camp Schwab, Okinawa, Japan. The Marines departed the USS Germantown via Assault Amphibious Vehicles and landed on the beaches of Camp Schwab during exercise Blue Chromite 15. Blue Chromite exercises the interoperability and joint capabilities of U.S. Navy and Marine Corps forces and increases the amphibious proficiency of participating units. The Marines are with 2nd Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, currently assigned to 4th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force under the unit deployment program.
