U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Austin G. Morton, a joint fires observer with 1st Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company (ANGLICO) detachment, 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), and native of Seattle, Washington, fires an M4A1 carbine during a live-fire exercise at an unknown distance range, Alta Plage, Djibouti, Oct. 11. Marines from the 11th MEU are deployed with amphibious transport dock ship USS San Diego as a part of the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group as a flexible, adaptable and persistent force in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility.
