A service member acts as a casualty during a simulated medical evacuation drill Sept. 30 at the Kin Blue Training Area. The training exercise was spread out over the course of five days and involved corpsman and Marines responding to different medical scenarios they might encounter in the field. The casualty actors helped to add realism to the exercise, according to U.S. Navy Capt. Michele Hancock, from Waynesburg, Pennsylvania. “They were crying out in pain and asking where their buddies were,” said Hancock. “It causes the personnel to reassure the patient while they’re still assessing them and providing medical treatment.” The corpsman and Marines are with 3rd Medical Battalion, 3rd Marine Logistics Group, III Marine Expeditionary Force.
