Students from Butner Elementary school sing patriotic music during a ceremony to celebrate the Month of the Military Child in the school's gymnasium, April 2. "This month is to celebrate the service that the children put into the military," said Principal Sharon K. Hall, a native of Durango, Colo. "Often their sacrifices are hidden or unknown, or people are unaware of what they go through, so this month is to honor them." The Month of the Military Child takes place during the entire month of April.
