Capt. Matt Meyer, former Chosen Company commander, 2nd Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment (Airborne), 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team, presented a visual depiction of the actions taken by Cpl. Jonathan Ayers on July 13, 2008, during a fierce fire-fight against the Taliban which claimed the life of Cpl. Ayers and eight other service members. Meyer and several members of the Chosen Company and the batallion were attending the, March 29, posthumous presentation of the Silver Star Medal to the Ayers family at Shiloh High School, Snellville, Ga., where Cpl. Ayers attended high school.
