Brig. Gen. Joseph Schroedel, commander, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, South Atlantic Division, posthumously presented The Silver Star Medal to the family of Cpl. Jonathan R. Ayers during a ceremony held, March 29, at Shiloh High School in Snellville, Ga. Ayers was a graduate from Shiloh and student commander of the Air Force ROTC. From left to right are sister-in-law Christina Ayers, brother Josh Ayers, mother Suzanne Ayers and father Bill Ayers. Cpl. Ayers was a member of The Chosen Company, 2nd Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment (Airborne), 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team, and was killed serving his country, July 13, 2008, during a fire-fight in Wanat, Afghanistan.
