Gunner's Mate 1st Class Kyle Briggs, from Spring Valley, Calif., fires an M4A1 carbine assault rifle during a Visit, Board, Search and Seizure exercise aboard the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Gridley (DDG-101). Gridley is underway as part of the Carl Vinson Carrier Strike Group. The Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) and its embarked air wing, Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 17, are on deployment in the 7th Fleet area of operations supporting security and stability in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
