Sonar Technician (Surface) 2nd Class Joshua Hedges, from Mormouth, Ill., fires an M9 service pistol during a Visit, Board, Search and Seizure exercise aboard the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Gridley (DDG-101). Gridley is underway as part of the Carl Vinson Carrier Strike Group. The Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) and its embarked air wing, Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 17, are on deployment in the 7th Fleet area of operations supporting security and stability in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
