Lt. Cmdr. Thomas Miller, executive officer, Commander, U.S. Pacific Fleet, receives an American flag during the traditional "passing of the flag" as part of a retirement ceremony aboard the USS Bowfin Submarine Museum. Miller, a native of Waukesha, Wis., retired March 21 after 27 years of active duty serving both in the enlisted and officer ranks.
