This 600-yard rifle range belongs to Lt. Col. John Cletus Paumier in Salem, Ohio. Paumier cleared approximately 14 acres of land (eight acres for the range itself) to build it over a span of three years with the help of some friends. Paumier is an orthopedic surgeon, officer-in-charge of the Army Reserve Marksmanship Program and command surgeon for the 416th Theater Engineer Command, headquartered in Darien, Ill.
