Recruits of Bravo Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion, practice firing at the 500-yard line Sept. 9, 2014, on Parris Island, S.C. Marine recruits spend two weeks learning and applying marksmanship fundamentals, longer than any other United States branch of service, to carry on the tradition of every Marine a rifleman. The Marine Corps is the only branch that teaches entry-level recruits to fire their weapons at 500 yards. Bravo Company is scheduled to graduate Oct. 17, 2014. (Photo by Cpl. David Bessey)
