A Soldier with the 84th Civil Affairs Battalion covers an exit after receiving contact as part of a key leader engagement exercise during the 84th Civil Affairs Battalions first ever Phoenix Challenge Sept. 2 at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash. The competition celebrated the first anniversary of the unit and consisted of a team physical fitness test, an air assault mission, a key leader engagement exercise, a memorization stress test, a zodiac boat assault course, an M4 range and an 18-mile road march.
