Capt. John Chuck Nygaard poses with newly-pinned Surface Warfare Officers Ensign Leon Faison and Ensign Aaron Jefferson aboard the guided-missile cruiser USS Vicksburg (CG 69) in the Mediterranean Sea. He has just sprinkled seawater on their SWO pins, following the time-honored tradition of sprinkling the newly-qualified officer with seawater from the ocean in which he was pinned. The Eisenhower Carrier Strike Group is underway for a scheduled deployment supporting the on-going rotation of forward-deployed forces to support maritime security operations and operate in international waters across the globe.
