The Military Sealift Command dry cargo/ammunition ship USNS Schirra, named after Mercury, Gemini and Apollo astronaut Navy Capt. Wally Schirra, slides into San Diego bay after her christening and launch. Schirra is the eight ship of the Lewis and Clark-class operated by the Military Sealift Command Naval Fleet Auxillary Force.
