Aviation Electronics Technician Airman Jacob Roddy, from Durant, Mich., inspects the belly of an MH-60R Sea Hawk helicopter from the Battle Cats of Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron (HSM) 73 aboard the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Sterett (DDG 104). Sterett is underway in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of responsibility as part of the Carl Vinson Carrier Strike Group. Carl Vinson and its embarked air wing, Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 17, are on deployment in the 7th Fleet area of operations supporting Valiant Shield. Valiant Shield is a U.S.–only biennial exercise in which participation will focus on the integration of joint training among U.S. forces.
