The Military Sealift Command Dry Cargo/Ammunition ship USNS Richard E. Byrd (T-AKE 4) transits the Pacific Ocean during a replenishment-at-sea with the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70). Carl Vinson and its embarked air wing, Carrier Air Wing 17, are on deployment in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations supporting Valiant Shield.
