The future amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6) fires its cannon for a 21 guns salute while Marines and Sailors with Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force South and America man the rails for the ships arrival in San Diego, Sept. 15, 2014. The ship completed its maiden transit, "America Visits the Americas" with its arrival to her homeport. Through partner-nation activities, key leader engagements and security cooperation activities, the Marines and Sailors of SPMAGTF South demonstrated the flexibility, utility and unparalleled expeditionary capability the Navy-Marine Corps team provides our nation and partners.
