Attendees wait in line to walkthrough an MV-22B Osprey tiltrotor aircraft Sept. 5 during the Japanese-American Friendship Festival at Yokota Air Base. This year marked the first time the Osprey was displayed at the Friendship Festival. The Osprey is the world’s first production tiltrotor aircraft, combining the characteristics of a fixed-wing aircraft with a helicopter. The combination gives the Osprey the capability to take off and land vertically, like a helicopter, and have the speed and range of a fixed wing aircraft. The Osprey is assigned to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 265, Marine Aircraft Group 36, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, III Marine Expeditionary Force. (U.S. Marine Corps Photo by Cpl. Thor J.
