Pvt. Brandon Whitler, a New Albany, Ind., native and infantryman in Company B, 2nd Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade elects to run rather than pedal up a steep hill during the 2014 Estonian 1st Infantry Brigade Cross Country Cycling Competition held Aug. 19 in Paldiski, Estonia. Company B’s participation marked the first time in Estonian Defense Forces’ history that an American team competed in this 20-km trek through Paldiski’s rocky hills and dense forest. Company B is one of several units from the 173rd Airborne Brigade deployed in support of Operation Atlantic Resolve, an exercise dedicated to demonstrating commitment to NATO obligations and maintaining interoperability with allied forces.
