Sergeant Daniel Knight, non-lethal weapons instructor with Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force South, and a native of Crown Point, Ind., contaminates Lance Cpl. Matthew Hamilton, a mortarman with SPMAGTF-South, and a native of Roseburg, Ore., with oleoresin capsicum (OC) spray during an OC qualification course aboard the future amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6), Aug. 28, 2014. Participants were required to execute multiple self-defense stations after being sprayed on the forehead before receiving their certification to carry OC. While in transit, Marines and Sailors aboard are taking advantage of training such as this in order to improve upon their military knowledge and tactics.
