Marines with Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force South watch as a Sailor assigned to the future amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6) is contaminated with oleoresin capsicum (OC) spray during an OC qualification course aboard America, Aug. 28, 2014. The exposure to OC was the final portion of the course for the Marines and Sailors. Participants were required to execute multiple self-defense stations after being sprayed on the forehead before receiving their certification to carry OC. While in transit, Marines and Sailors aboard are taking advantage of training such as this in order to improve upon their military knowledge and tactics.
